Darryl Kaelin, MD

Injury Program
Darryl Kaelin, M.D., is the Medical
Director for the Acquired Brain Injury
Program at Shepherd Center. He
oversees Shepherd Center's medical treatment and specialized care programs for people with acquired brain injury, which is supported by nearly 125 staff members. He is also Medical Director of the Brain Injury Research Program at Shepherd.
He was educated at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Louisville Medical School. He completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to joining Shepherd Center in 2005, Dr. Kaelin was Medical Director of the Hook Rehabilitation Center in Indianapolis, Indiana for ten years.
Dr. Kaelin has had his work published in national and regional publications and has made presentations in fields of brain injury management and treatment. He is recognized as a leader in the field of brain injury and has served on numerous committees and organizational boards of directors. He is also a diplomat of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Kaelin's areas of interest include neuropharmacology, spasticity management, and electrodiagnosis of nerve injuries.
