Carlos E. Lopez, M.D.

Infectious Diseases

Dr. Carlos E. Lopez founded his own practice in 1983. He attended the University of Puerto Rico where he earned his M.D. degree. He completed his medical internship at the University of Pennsylvania, his residency training in Internal Medicine at Puerto Rico Medical Center and fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland, after which he spent two years as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta.

Dr. Lopez is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). He is certified as an HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. He has held an academic position at Emory University School of Medicine and Mercer University School of Pharmacy, as well as appointments at Piedmont Hospital and Shepherd Center.
