Debbie Westbrook joined Shepherd Center in 2007 as an admissions liaison. Her home office is located in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Before joining Shepherd Center, Debbie worked for six years as a medical case manager and provided mental health counseling in individual and group settings.

“My job allows me to connect with families and offer an opportunity that can change a person’s life,” Debbie said. “I enjoy crisis counseling and providing services to those in traumatic or life-changing situations.”

Debbie earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and a master’s degree in social work at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.

In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, backpacking and biking. She also enjoys traveling, playing soccer and spending time with her husband.

Susan Lawhorn joined Shepherd Center in 2000 as an admissions liaison for patients in eastern Tennessee and Kentucky. She is based in Knoxville, Tenn.

 

Susan’s experience in the field spans from laboratory technology to social work and case management for patients in level one trauma centers and long-term acute care hospitals. She received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and her Masters in Social Work from University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. 

 

A native of eastern Tennessee, Susan says, “My work with Shepherd allows me to interact with patients and families and provide SCI and ABI education, as well as the opportunity to explore possibilities for the future.”

 

In her free time, Susan enjoys traveling, hiking, back-packing and gardening.
