Kathy Slonaker began working at Shepherd Center in 1982 in nursing and has worked in every unit at Shepherd Center, including 10 years in the Outpatient Services Department before joining the admissions staff as an admissions liaison. Her home office is based in Macon, Georgia.
"I love representing Shepherd Center and working closely with referring facilities to educate families on spinal cord and brain injuries," she says. "I often meet with families within the first 24-72 hours after the injury. I am honored to be a part of the treatment team, working together to set the course for the patient and family's journey to recovery. I am inspired everyday by the families I serve as I bear witness to love, faith and hope."
Kathy is married and has three children. Her husband, Mark, is the head men's basketball coach at Mercer University.
Kathy serves on the Board of Trustees of Mount de Sales Academy, as well as on the Cavalier Club Board. She also serves on the American Cancer Society Gala Committee in Macon, Georgia. When she is not at Mercer basketball games or her children's sporting events, she enjoys traveling, being outdoors and reading.
