Kathy is an admissions liaison at Shepherd Center, filling in for her colleagues when someone is on vacation or leave, as well as assisting with the Center’s marketing needs.
She began working at Shepherd Center in 1998 as a nurse extern, and later as a full time nurse on Dr. Murray’s adolescent team. Kathy left Shepherd Center for a short period of time and worked as an ER nurse at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. She returned to Shepherd Center in 2007 as a PRN nurse working in ICU as well as the brain injury, spinal cord injury and Neuro units. Kathy began working in admissions in 2009.
She said she was inspired to become a nurse at Shepherd Center in high school when one of her close friends was in a car accident and sustained a spinal cord injury at the T4 level.
“She and I became even closer when it happened and have been best friends ever since,” Kathy said of her friend. “I was exposed to Shepherd Center when she did her rehab here. She is why I became a nurse and work at Shepherd Center.”
Kathy currently lives in Buckhead with her husband and three children.
