Nurse SenateWelcome to Nursing at Shepherd Center. Nursing leadership meets on a monthly basis to discuss the current state of nursing services at Shepherd Center. The Senate meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Board Room (located on the first floor of the Shepherd Building). Meetings typically last one hour. All nursing staff are encouraged to attend. All Center staff are invited to attend. This gathering is a unique opportunity to discuss concerns, changes in policy, status of ongoing projects and much more. Staff members in each nursing unit designate a representative to attend the meetings. These unit representatives serve a one-year term and are responsible for communicating and distributing information back to their colleagues. The nurse senate holds yearly elections to name a senate chairperson. Nominations are made by members of the nursing staff. The Chair-elect is identified following a closed ballot vote. Currently Joycelyn Craig is the Chair of the Nurse Senate and Glenn Prescott is Chair-elect. The Chair steps down in April of each year and is replaced by the Chair-elect. The Chair-elect serves as senate secretary for one year and then moves to the position of Chair. Please contact your nurse manager to discuss your participation in nurse senate and to identify your senate representative. If you have additional questions, email Joycelyn Craig or Glenn Prescott. We look forward to seeing you at nurse senate very soon.
