ATLANTA - The Iris Garden Club is sponsoring a unique fundraising luncheon at 103 West in Buckhead on March 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to Shepherd Center to help fund a beautifully-landscaped garden and dining terrace outside the facility’s new cafeteria.

The luncheon event is being called “Tablescapes Adventure: An Exhibition of Dining Styles by Leaders of Design.” Thirty Atlanta interior and floral designers have volunteered to use their creative talents to decorate a variety of differently themed tables for display at the luncheon. Guests will have the opportunity to view the creations during the event.

Many of the featured designers have donated items which will be raffled. While they enjoy lunch, guests will also be entertained by The Lyric Theater. Beautiful, fresh floral centerpiece arrangements made by garden club members will also be sold.

The Iris Garden Club was founded in 1928, and is one of Atlanta’s oldest garden clubs. The club holds a fundraiser for charity each year, but this event is expected to be the largest in the club’s history.

“This is the biggest undertaking the garden club has ever done,” said Cindy Voyles, club member and one of the event chairs. “I’m sure it will be very successful.”

James, Alana, and Harold Shepherd, who founded Shepherd Center in 1975, will be present at the event as honorary chairs. Alana Shepherd is a long-time Iris Garden Club member.

“We are thrilled that they have committed to raise the money for this project,” Alana Shepherd said. “The garden is absolutely beautiful and not like anything you would expect to see in a hospital.”

The new outdoor dining terrace at Shepherd Center is a large, professionally-designed garden by landscape architects David Barclift and Cecily W. Gooch, and Suzanne Kassler Interiors with a stacked stone wall, colorful plantings, and beautiful wicker furniture for outdoor dining.

The Iris Garden Club members hope to raise at least $25,000 to $30,000 in luncheon proceeds to help fund the garden facility at Shepherd Center. The event will be able to host 300 guests.

Tickets to the luncheon are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting Patra Evans by e-mail at patra312@gmail.com.

The Iris Garden Club president and Executive Advisor for the event is Pam Wakefield. The Event Chairs are Kay Quigley and Cindy Voyles.

Committee Chairs are: Linda Peterson; Bonnie Burnette; Melissa Davis; Anne Orndahl; Diane Drake; Patra Evans; Seashols Starks; and Stacy Deloach.
