ATLANTA - (April 2, 2009) - Shepherd Center was recognized yesterday as the beneficiary of the 34th annual WXIA-TV 11Alive Community Service Awards Dinner at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
The event coincided with Shepherd Center's 34th anniversary year and raised more than $150,000 for the Center. Hosted by 11Alive's Brenda Wood and Ted Hall, the dinner will be broadcast Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. on WXIA-TV and Sunday, April 12 at 12:30 p.m. on WATL.
James Shepherd served as volunteer Dinner Chair for the event that recognized 11 community volunteers including Atlanta Braves pitcher Tom Glavine, V-103 DJ Frank Ski, and Carey Carter from Carter Barnes for their many hours of charitable work and dollars raised or given to help others. Home Depot Co-founder Arthur Blank received The Boisfeuillet Jones Award for his contributions to the business, civic and nonprofit communities.
