Specialized therapies, evaluations and programs for people who have sustained a traumatic brain injury are available through Shepherd Pathways on an outpatient basis.

Programs Available

Adolescent and Young Adult Program

Specifically designed for adolescents and young adults who have experienced an acquired brain injury. Emphasis is on age appropriate treatment, education, peer support, outings, family and sibling support, neuropsychological interventions and return to school.

Center For Diagnostic Evaluations

An evaluation for people who are in need of an assessment of their functional capabilities for legal reasons or for more complex problems that need coordination of care. Each evaluation is individualized based on the need of the client and or their representative.

Shepherd Pathways Respite Care

Designed to provide temporary support for caregivers of people with brain injury or other neurological conditions. Lengths of stay can range from 1-30 days. Respite care guests are attended to 24 hours per day by nurses and experienced residential assistants and enjoy a wide variety of recreational and social opportunities.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Some individuals who sustain a head injury may have symptoms of dizziness and imbalance. The vestibular therapy program at Shepherd Pathways is designed to provide services for individuals with complaints of dizziness and imbalance related to the interruption of the vestibular system (inner ear.) The therapy is provided by a physical therapist with emphasis on reducing the symptoms of dizziness and improving balance and walking to help the person achieve their maximum level of independence.

Dysphagia Program

Shepherd Center has developed a specialized Swallowing (Dysphagia) Program to meet the needs of people who have mild to complex swallowing problems. Swallowing problems may be the result of neurological injury/disease or direct trauma to the swallowing mechanism.
