This session will focus on considerations for the development of an effective cardiovascular training program for people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Research will be presented exploring positive cardiovascular training responses in this population, including potential neuro-plastic effects. Common barriers to achieving cardiovascular exercise in people with multiple sclerosis will be explored, including the prevalence of fatigue, autonomic dysfunction and respiratory challenges. A protocol for assessing cardiovascular function and identifying physiological barriers will be presented, along with discussion regarding how to accommodate identified barriers and create an optimal training environment.
