This lecture will focus on treatment strategies for people with moderate to severe impairments due to multiple sclerosis. An evidence-based approach will be used to discuss strength training, cardiovascular training, gait and balance training, functional mobility training, and electromodalities in addressing functional impairments. A detailed discussion of strategies to address bowel and bladder dysfunction, ADL management, and utilization of assistive technologies to improve access to the community will be presented. Throughout this lecture, strategies will be presented to translate the evidence into clinical practice in common therapeutic settings.
