Dr. Tumeh’s Medical Background
John Tumeh, M.D., of Foundation Psychiatry, P.C., is a consulting psychiatrist at Shepherd Center. Dr. Tumeh graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2009 and completed a residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has also served on the advisory council for the Partnership for Workplace Mental Health, American Psychiatric Foundation.
Dr. Tumeh has experience treating the full spectrum of psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to mood, anxiety, personality disorders, addiction, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, geriatric psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and dementia.
Psychotherapy, the “talk therapy” used in psychiatry, is an integral part of his practice. Dr. Tumeh has extensive experience in various forms of psychotherapy, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal and family therapies.
