Our Health and Wellness Clinics are for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities. These clinics provide the opportunity to become physically active and gain insight to achieving a well-balanced lifestyle.

In-Person Programming

Spring Horticulture Clinic    

This event will take place at the Callenwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta, GA. Participants will have the opportunity to join Shepherd Center and Trellis Horticulture Therapy Alliance for a horticulture clinic that will focus on a basic horticulture/nature craft session. Program activity will be basic floral arrangements.

• Cost: $20 (includes t-shirt, instruction, and equipment)    

Adventure Skills Workshop Clinic  (ASW)  

This event will take place at Camp ASCCA in Jackson's Gap, AL. Participants will have the opportunity to join Shepherd Center for various outdoor, aquatic, and adventure-based activities. Please note that participants will be responsible for securing their own transportation for this event. Meals, lodging, equipment, and instruction are included.  

• Date: May 17th–19th    
• Location: Camp ASCCA, Camp ASCCA Drive, Jackson’s Gap, AL 36961  
• Cost: Participant: $225 (includes t-shirt, lodging, meals, activities, and instruction)/Attendant: $200 (includes t-shirt, lodging, and meals)   

Chattanooga Clinic    

Join Shepherd Center and the City of Chattanooga Department of Parks and Outdoors for a fun-filled afternoon of handcycling and kayaking. This event will take place near Chattanooga, Tennessee, where participants will have the opportunity to focus on kayaking and handcycling outdoors. This course offers educational and hands-on demonstrations. Lunch will be provided. This course is open to anyone with a physical disability. Please note that participants will be responsible for registration fees and securing their own transportation for this event.

• Cost: $20 (includes t-shirt, instruction, and equipment)    

Charleston Clinic    

This event will take place in Charleston, SC. Participants will have the opportunity to join Shepherd Center and Adaptive Expeditions for an outdoor clinic focusing on adaptive surfing. This course offers educational and hands-on demonstrations. Please note that participants will be responsible for securing their own transportation for this event.

Para-Tri Clinic    

This two-day event will take place at the Alpharetta YMCA in Alpharetta, GA. Participants will have the opportunity to join Shepherd Center and the Atlanta Tri Club for a clinic focusing on swimming, cycling, and wheelchair racing. This course offers educational and hands-on demonstrations. Participants will complete a mock tri at the end of the event.

• Cost: $20 (includes t-shirt, instruction, lunch, and equipment)    

July Waterski Clinic  

This event will take place at Lake Allatoona in Acworth, GA. Participants will have the opportunity to join Shepherd Center and local disabled athletes to learn the basics of waterskiing. This course offers educational and hands-on demonstrations of adaptive water skiing. Please note there is a 200-lb. weight limit due to equipment capacity.

Steamboat Springs Clinic at STARS Ranch    

This event will take place at the STARS Ranch in Steamboat Springs, CO. Participants will have the opportunity to join the Shepherd Center and STARS for various outdoor and adventure-based activities. This trip is targeting individuals who have experienced a spinal cord injury. Please note that participants will be responsible for securing their own airfare for this event. Meals, lodging, equipment, and instruction are included.

• Date: July 21st-25th
• Location: STARS Ranch in Steamboat Spring, CO
• Cost: TBD (includes t-shirt, meals, lodging, onsite transportation, equipment, and instruction. Participants are responsible for securing their own airfare).

Registration

Registration is required for all events and opens at least six weeks prior to the start of the class or course.
