This course will cover an overview of substance use and substance use disorders, with a specific focus on addressing the needs of those receiving care in rehabilitation settings. This course will cover prevalence of substance use, diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders and co-occurrence of substance use and complex neurological conditions. It will provide education on appropriate client-centered language when addressing substance use and guidance for patient communication.
