If a client cannot drive to SHARE, we may be able to help with flight arrangements. There are charitable transportation organizations we can connect with clients. If a client flies in, they’re responsible for getting from the airport to us. A typical Uber/Lyft from the airport ranges from $30 to $50.
For clients in the full-day program, Shepherd Center provides housing in one of our nearby efficiency studio apartments as long as there is availability.
Every day is different, and we customize your treatment to fit each client’s needs. Various types of therapy within SHARE run Monday – Friday, approximately 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., with an estimate of 30+ hours of therapy a week for full-day program clients.
Days are filled with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, recreation therapy, and behavioral health sessions. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on weekdays. Clients have habituation exercises, vision exercises, and goal-directed time worked into their schedules. Clients will even be involved in group treatment with their peers for emotional regulation, vision groups, education, medication management groups, and cognitive processing. Outside therapy hours, clients are free to do what they’d like as long as it doesn’t break any program rules.
Yes! We want to educate them on the specific strategies we think are working and involve them in treatment as much as is comfortable for the client. We want to respect each client’s privacy, so we ask that they let us know how much information to share.
Clients who graduate from SHARE’s Comprehensive Day Program receive 12 months of transition to community follow-up sessions with a transition support specialist to help them return to their communities and stay on their path to renewed purpose.
